Camping on Thacher Island is a fun getaway.  The island has lighthouses, rocky coves, paths to explore, and even a graveyard to visit in the wee hours of the morning if you are so inclined...

What to bring:

  • bug repellant, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
  • water bottles and water (there is no fresh water available on the island)
  • tent and groundcloth
  • sleeping bag – we recommend a down or polyfill bag that packs compactly
  • clothing appropriate for paddling and overnight camping -  bathing suit, shorts, sandals, fleece, raingear - place your sleeping bag, clothes, and gear in drybags or in a duffel or daypack placed in a plastic bag - kayak bulkheads are not totally water-tight
  • bowl, cup, knife, spoon, fork
  • camping stove and fuel
  • enough food for dinner and breakfast and snacks.  Please use soft-sided coolers only, please!

Please be at the shop, ready to pack your gear NO LATER than 2:15 p.m.

Remember to pack as compactly as possible - you'll carry your gear out to the island in or on your kayaks, and you will probably need to carry some of the group food and gear in addition to your own.
